As this is a Christmas themed shoot, Christmas themed clothes are welcome. For the traditional family set up, reds, whites, greens or golds can work well. You can also choose things such as plaid or checkered shirts and Christmas jumpers.
For this years theme, ‘the night before Christmas’, pyjamas will also work. Usually I say to avoid matching outfits but as this is Christmas, matching pyjamas could look very cute!
Things to avoid:
- Too much black
- Too much white
- Overly Bright and Neon colours
- Heavy patterns
- Large logos, emblems or graphics
- Large Costumes
- Lots of sequins, especially the ones that change colour when you rub your hand over them.
Footwear
I ask that you remove any outdoor footwear at the session. Clean shoes can be warn for the shoot. There is a place to keep your shoes in the studio.
Accessories
We want the focus to be about you so keeping jewellery and accessories to a minimum would be best.
Hair and Make-up
Always be sure to arrive at your shoot with clean, brushed hair and clean faces and clothes. If you are having your hair styled, try to keep it out of your face as it can cause unwanted shadows in your photos.
Be careful how much make you put on, simple will be enough. If you are using lipstick/lipgloss bring it with you to the shoot to do touch ups.
Also…
For children that have anxiety or worries do everything you can to keep them happy – comfortable clothes, things they are used to and if they have a special toy, bring that with you. The goal of these sessions is to have fun and be yourselves.
Please bring anything you would normally need when leaving the house, nappies, milk, snacks etc to keep children happy.
Also please feed little ones before the session and, if possible, make sure they are clean with a fresh nappy. If there’s time let them have a nap so they are happy when they arrive. If you can, dress them in what you want them to be photographed in as this can save time and won’t upset them when they are at the studio.
